Our History

Building Bright Futures Since 1967

Bellville Preparatory School has a long-standing tradition of excellence in early childhood education. What began as a small nursery school in 1967 has grown into a respected preparatory school, serving the Northern Suburbs community with dedication and care.

Over the decades, our school has evolved to meet the changing needs of young learners, expanding to include the full Foundation Phase up to Grade 3. Throughout this journey, we have remained true to our core belief: that a strong educational foundation is key to future success.

Our story is one of perseverance, passion, and unwavering commitment to quality education.

More About Our History

Grade R

In Grade R, we nurture curiosity and lay the foundation for lifelong learning. Through structured play, hands-on activities, and early literacy and numeracy development, our young learners gain the confidence and skills they need for a smooth transition to formal schooling.

Grade 1

Grade 1 is where structured learning begins. With a focus on early reading, writing, and numeracy, our learners develop critical thinking skills while fostering independence and creativity in a supportive classroom environment.

Grade 2

Grade 2 builds upon foundational skills, emphasizing comprehension, problem-solving, and practical application of knowledge. Learners gain confidence in their abilities while developing essential teamwork and communication skills.

Grade 3

In Grade 3, we equip learners with the skills needed for the next phase of their education. With a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning, our learners are encouraged to think critically, express themselves confidently, and embrace new challenges.

What an honour to lead a dynamic group of teachers and to develop and maintain an effective educational program within the school!

The recent visit from the SEA highlighted our school as a hidden gem in the community—a recognition that truly reflects its value and excellence.

As principal, one of the things I value deeply is the partnership between school and home. I see our school as an extension of the learning and care that begins with each family — a place where children feel safe, understood, and excited to grow.

It’s important to me that we support every aspect of a child’s development — from building confidence and social skills to nurturing curiosity and laying a strong academic foundation. I believe that when children feel emotionally secure and supported, real learning can flourish.

I also want our school to be a space where parents feel welcome — where we can share in the values and goals we hold for our children and work together to give them the best possible start.

During my time as an Educator at Bellville Preparatory I have rediscovered a passion and excitement for teaching and learning. I enjoy the small classrooms and being able to give individual attention to each of my learners. Through interactive, challenging, innovative teaching practices and positive discipline we strive to help every learner rise to their own potential.

We believe in a holistic and balanced approach to teaching, taking the whole child into consideration. Through adaptability and open-mindedness, we seek to support our learners, parents and colleagues inside and outside the classroom.
