Everything You Need to Know About Our School

Our youngest group of learners is called the Pre-Primary or Pre-Grade R class. Learners in this group all turn 5 during the year.

In our Grade R class all the learners turn 6 during the year. We do not recommend that learners start Grade 1 before the age of 6.

Our learners usually turn 7 in Grade 1, 8 in Grade 2 and 9 in Grade 3.

The ratio per class varies between 16 to 19 learners, depending on the age group. All grades except grade 3 have a teacher assistant.

The school community owns the school and the property it is built on. The School Governing Body (consisting of at least 5 parents elected by the parents plus 4 staff members) is the legal entity that governs the school.

The school is registered as an independent school. Grade R and Grades 1, 2, 3 are subsidized by WCED.

We Follow the CAPS curriculum. The curriculum has been designed in accordance with the National Curriculum Statement of the National Department of Education. The teachers attend all in-service training sessions and workshops presented by WCED.

No, the school does not provide transport.

There are shuttle services available, but parents are required to organise transport with these services directly.

The uniform at our school consists of a navy blue golf shirt and matching knee length shorts in summer and track suits in winter. It is not compulsory for the learners in the pre-primary and Grade R class.

Uniforms are supplied by San Africa in Belhar. You can download their latest pricelist and contact details here.

When the learners leave after grade 3, the parents apply at the neighbouring primary schools. Some parents enrol the learners in private schools in our surrounding areas.

We take learners on an excursion every 2nd year

In 2024 we took our learners to the Science Centre. Places we visited before was the Two Oceans Aquarium and Bugs Playpark.

Our school offers several extra mural activities provided by private companies. You can view more details on our website here.

The school however offer athletics, ball skills, mini soccer and mini netball, as well as spelling bee, poetry and drama for free. These activities take place in the 30 minutes directly after school. Learners are requested to change into their sports gear during second break so that no time is lost.

Learners who do not participate in extra-curricular activities are allowed to play under supervision until their transport arrives.

Our main source of income is school fees, but we also host a fundraiser event each term.

In aftercare all the learners take a nap until at 3 o’clock when they are woken and receive a snack.

Then Grade R learners may play freely outside while the aftercare supervisor assist the Grade 1-3 learners with homework.
